Florence Ellinwood Allen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. She was an American judge. She was the first woman to serve on a state supreme court and one of the first two women to serve as a United States federal judge. She earned her Master's Degree in Political Science in 1908. She also earned a law degree from the New York University School of Law in 1913.
