Harriet Lerner was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. She is an American clinical psychologist and a contributor to feminist theory and therapy. From 1972 to 2001 she was a staff psychologist at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas and a faculty member and supervisor in the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry. Her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin. She received her M.A. in Educational Psychology from Teachers College of Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The City University of New York. She has written several books include: The Dance of Anger, Women in therapy, The dance of deception, The mother dance, and Marriage Rules.
