James Rufus Agee was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. He was an American author, novelist, poet, screenwriter and film critic. He studied at Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard University. He wrote several books include: Permit Me Voyage(poem), Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, The Quiet One, The Morning Watch(novella), A Death in the Family(autobiographical novel- won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1958), and Agee on Film. He wrote several films include: The African Queen, Face to Face, The Night of the Hunter, All the Way Home, and A Death in the Family.
