Gerry Adams was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is an Irish republican politician who is the president of the Sinn Féin political party, and a Teachta Dála for Louth since the 2011 general election. From 1983 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2011, he was an abstentionist Westminster Member of Parliament for Belfast West. He has written several books including Falls Memories: A Belfast Life, The Politics of Irish Freedom, A Pathway to Peace, Cage Eleven, The Street and Other Stories, Free Ireland, Before the Dawn(memoir), An Irish Voice, An Irish Journal, A Farther Shore, Hope and History, and An Irish Eye.
