Christine Jane Baranski was born in Buffalo, New York. She is an American actress and singer. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. She is an Emmy Award winner and a two-time Tony Award winner. Baranski made her stage debut in 1974 and her Broadway debut in Hide and Seek in 1980. She has won two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play, for The Real Thing in 1984 and Rumors in 1989. She has received a total of eleven Emmy nominations. She has also starred in various roles in films and television. She also played Cinderella's stepmother in the film adaptation of the musical, Into the Woods.
