Sir Harold Mario Mitchell Acton was born in Galluzzo, Florence, Italy. He was a British historical writer and poet. His non-historical works include four volumes of poetry, three novels, two novellas, two volumes of short stories, a memoir of Nancy Mitford, and two volumes of autobiography. He wrote several books include: Aquarium(poem), The last Medici, Peonies and ponies, Memoirs of an aesthete, Prince Isidore, The Bourbons of Naples, Tuscan Villas, Nancy Mitford: A Memoir, The Pazzi Conspiracy, Three Extraordinary Ambassadors, and Modern Chinese poetry(with Shixiang Chen).
