James Orsen Bakker was born in Muskegon, Michigan, USA. He is an American televangelist, a former Assemblies of God minister and a former host of The PTL Club, an evangelical Christian television program. He studied at North Central Bible College. A sex scandal led to his resignation from the ministry. Subsequent revelations of accounting fraud brought about his imprisonment and divorce. He later remarried and returned to televangelism. He has written several books include: God Answers Prayer, PTL Devotional Guide, Eight keys to success, You Can Make It, I was wrong, Prosperity and the coming apocalypse, The Refuge, and Time Has Come.
