Courken George Deukmejian, Jr. was born in Menands, New York, USA. He is an American politician. He was the 35th Governor of California from 1983 to 1991 and California Attorney General from 1979 to 1983. He graduated a B.A. in Sociology from Siena College in 1949. He earned a Juris Doctor from St. John's University in 1952. He was elected to represent Long Beach in the State Assembly in 1962. In 1966, he was elected as a state senator, serving from 1967 to 1969.
