Jacques Benigne Bossuet was born in Dijon, France. He was a French bishop, theologian and writer, renowned for his sermons and other addresses. He studied at the University of Paris. Court preacher to Louis XIV of France, he was a strong advocate of political absolutism and the divine right of kings. He was also an important courtier and politician. He wrote several books include: Politics Drawn from the Very Words of Holy Scripture, Meditations for Lent, Meditations for Advent, Meditations on Mary, and Letters of Spiritual Direction.
