John Trapp was born in Croome D'Abitot, Worcestershire, England. He was an English Anglican Bible commentator. His large five-volume commentary is still read today and is known for its pithy statements and quotable prose. He earned a BA degree in 1622 and an MA degree in 1624 both from Christ Church, Oxford. In 1622, he was made usher of the free school of Stratford-upon-Avon by the corporation of the town, and succeeded to the headmastership in 1624. By Edward, first lord Conway, he was made preacher at Luddington, near Stratford.
