Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt, he received the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Marine Corps officer during World War II. He served as an official Secretary to the President. He served as a U.S. House of Representatives from California's 26th district from 1955-1965. He graduated from Harvard in 1930. After graduation, he enrolled in the Boston University School of Law.
