James Baxter Hunt Jr. was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. He is an American Democratic politician. He served as the 69th and 71st Governor of North Carolina from 1977-1985 and 1993-2001. He is the longest-serving governor in the state's history. He earned a BS degree in Agriculture and an MS degree in Agricultural Economics both from North Carolina State University. He earned his JD degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1964. He is the author of book, entitled First in America: An Education Governor Challenges North Carolina. He married to Carolyn. They have four children.
