He is an English former footballer and manager who played as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, AS Monaco, Chelsea and Swindon Town and at international level for England. He has been manager of Swindon Town, Chelsea, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and most recently Wolverhampton Wanderers. As manager, he took England to the World Cup second round in 1998, where they lost to Argentina on penalties.
