There’s been a vacuum with movies that people can relate to. There’s been a paucity of dramas that people can relate to. I think audiences are clamoring to connect – particularly after 9/11 – with things that are genuine and real and I think documentaries are filling that need.

George Loening Hickenlooper III was born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He was an American film director, documentary filmmaker, and screenwriter. After graduating from Yale University with a B.A. in History and Film Studies in 1986, he interned for the producer Roger Corman, and launched his directing career with Art, Acting, and the Suicide Chair: Dennis Hopper in 1988. He directed several films include: Factory Girl, Casino Jack, Hearts of Darkness( documentary film), The Man from Elysian Fields, Mayor of the Sunset Strip(documentary film), The Big Brass Ring, Ghost Brigade, Persons Unknown, Dogtown, and The Low Life. He himself won an Emmy for direction. He wrote several films include: Hearts of Darkness(documentary film), Mayor of the Sunset Strip(documentary film), and The Big Brass Ring.
