John William Van Druten was born in London, England. He was an English-born American playwright, screenwriter and theatre director, known professionally as John Van Druten. He studied at the University College School. He wrote several plays include: Young Woodley, London Wall, The Voice of the Turtle, I Remember Mama, and I Am a Camera. He wrote several films include: Unfaithful, Night Must Fall, Parnell, Raffles, Lucky Partners, My Life with Caroline, Johnny Come Lately, and Gaslight. He was known for his plays of witty and urbane observations of contemporary life and society.
