Horace Annesley Vachell was born in Sydenham, London, England. He was a prolific English writer of novels, plays, short stories, essays and autobiographical works. He was educated at Harrow and Sandhurst. He wrote several books include: The Hill: A Romance of Friendship, Sport and Life on the Pacific Slope, John Verney(novel), Bunch Grass, The soul of Susan Yellam, and The Fourth Dimension. He wrote several plays include: Quinneys, The Case of Lady Camber, and Searchlights. His last autobiographical book, More from Methuselah, was published in the year of his 90th birthday.
