Muhammad Ibn Battuta or Ibn Battuta was born in Tangier, Morocco. He was a Moroccan traveler, explorer and writer who is widely recognised as one of the greatest travelers of all time. He is the author of one of the most famous travel books, the Riḥlah. He is known for his extensive travels, accounts of which were published in his Travels. Over a period of thirty years, he visited most of the known Islamic world as well as many non-Muslim lands. His journeys included trips to North Africa, the Horn of Africa, West Africa, Middle East, India, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and China. He wrote several books include: The Travels of Ibn Battuta and Travels in Asia and Africa:1325-1354.
