Henry Scott Holland was born in Ledbury, Herefordshire, England. He was an English priest and professor. He was Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford. He was also a priest of Christ Church, Oxford. He educated at Eton College, Berkshire, and Balliol College of the University of Oxford where he took a first class degree in Greats. He had the Oxford degrees of DD, MA, and Honorary DLitt.
