John Hillaby was a British travel writer, journalist and explorer. He was educated at Woodhouse Grove School, Leeds. After the second world war he worked for the Manchester Guardian, the New York Times and the New Scientist. He wrote several books include: Within these Stream, Journey Through Britain, A Walk Through Britain, Journey Through Europe, A Walk Through Europe, Journey Through Love, Journey home, Journey to the Gods, Hillaby's World, and Journey to the Jade Sea.
