John William Bricker was born in Mount Sterling, Ohio, USA. He was an American Republican politician and lawyer. He served as the United States Senator from Ohio (1947-1959) and the 54th Governor of Ohio from 1939 to 1945. He earned a BA degree from Ohio State University in 1916. He also studied at Ohio State University Law School and began his legal practice in Columbus in 1920. He served as Attorney General of Ohio from 1933 to 1937. He was also the Republican nominee for Vice President in 1944.
