Joan Clark was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is a Canadian fiction writer and novelist. She earned a BA degree with English major from Acadia University in 1957. She also studied at the University of Alberta. She has worked as a teacher. She has written several books include: Girl of the Rockies, The Hand of Robin Squires (novel), From a High Thin Wire (short-story collection), Wild Man of the Woods (novel), The Moons of Madeleine, The Victory of Geraldine Gull (novel, Shortlisted for the 1988 Governor General's Award for Fiction),
