Edward Goldenberg Robinson was born in Bucharest, Romania. He was a Romanian-born American actor. A popular star during Hollywood's Golden Age, he is best remembered for his roles as a gangster, such as Rico in his star-making film Little Caesar, and as Rocco in Key Largo. His career rehabilitation received a boost in 1954, when noted anti-communist director Cecil B. DeMille cast him as the traitorous Dathan in The Ten Commandments. The film was released in 1956, as was his psychological thriller Nightmare. Robinson went on to make a total of 101 films in his 50-year career.
