Sir John Mills was an English actor who appeared in more than 120 films in a career spanning seven decades. He studied at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. His role in several films include: The Midshipmaid, A Political Party, Doctor's Orders, Car of Dreams, Tudor Rose, The Green Cockatoo, The Big Blockade, So Well Remembered, The Rocking Horse Winner (also producer), The Gentle Gunman, Hobson's Choice, The End of the Affair, Ice Cold in Alex, Tunes of Glory (Nominated- BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role), The Chalk Garden, Adam's Woman, Ryan's Daughter (Won- Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. Nominated- BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor), Oklahoma Crude, Zulu Dawn, Gandhi, Who's That Girl, and Bright Young Things. His role in television include: Dundee and the Culhane (TV series), The Zoo Gang (drama series), Dr. Strange (TV film), Young at Heart (TV series), and Harnessing Peacocks (TV film). He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1960. He was knighted by the Queen in 1976.
