Gillian Schieber Flynn was born in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. She is an American novelist, screenwriter, comic book writer, and former television critic for Entertainment Weekly. She received her undergraduate degrees in English and journalism from University of Kansas. She earned a master's degree at Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University in 1997. She adapted for the screen in the 2014 film Gone Girl directed by David Fincher. She has written three novels include: Sharp Objects(Edgar Award finalist), Dark Places, and Gone Girl(Nominated for both the Edgar Award and the Anthony Award for Best Novel). She has written other books include: The Grownup(Edgar Award-winning short story) and Rogues(with George R. R. Martin). She collaborated with illustrator Dave Gibbons and wrote a comic book story called Masks.
