Snyder was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. His mother, Marsha, was a painter and a photography teacher at Daycroft School, which Snyder later attended. His father, Charles Edward "Ed" Snyder, worked as an executive recruiter.
