Joan Rodriguez Smalls was born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico. She is a Puerto Rican supermodel. She was signed by Elite Model Management in 2007. In 2009, she left Elite Model Management and signed with IMG Models worldwide, where she changed her focus to runway work. In 2010, she began modeling for Victoria's Secret, she has been on the runways of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show from 2011-2016. In 2011, she became the first Latina model to represent Estée Lauder cosmetics. In January 2014, she appeared on the "Return of the Supermodel" cover of American Elle. She graduated magna cum laude from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor's degree in psychology. In September 2012, she was named "Model of the Year" at the 9th Annual "Style Awards".
