Jane Welsh Carlyle was born in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. She was a Scottish writer. She was the wife of essayist Thomas Carlyle. She had a long lasting relationship (1840-1866) with fellow writer Geraldine Jewsbury. She wrote several books include: Letters and memorials of Jane Welsh Carlyle, Jane Carlyle: Newly Selected Letters, Early letters of Jane Welsh Carlyle, and I too am here.
