John Stephen Piper was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. He is an American Reformed Baptist continuationist pastor, author and theologian who is the founder and leader of desiringGod.org and is the chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served as Pastor for Preaching and Vision of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 33 years. He attended Wheaton College majoring in literature and minoring in philosophy. He earned a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He received his Doctor of Theology degree in New Testament Studies at the University of Munich, Germany. He taught Biblical Studies at Bethel University.
