Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett was born in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, England. She was an English-American novelist and playwright. She is best known for the three children's novels Little Lord Fauntleroy, A Little Princess, and The Secret Garden. She wrote other novels include: That lass o' Lowrie's, The Lost Prince, The Making of a Marchioness, The Shuttle, A Lady of Quality, The Head of the House of Coombe, Racketty-Packetty house, His Grace of Osmonde, The Annotated Secret Garden, Through one administration, and The White People. She wrote two plays including A Lady of Quality and A Little Princess.
