Deepak Chopra was born in New Delhi, India. He is an Indian American writer and physician. He studied medicine in India before emigrating in 1970 to the United States. As a physician he specialized in endocrinology and became Chief of Staff at the New England Memorial Hospital. In the 1980s he began to practice transcendental meditation. His first book, Quantum Healing: Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine, published in 1989. His book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success was on The New York Times Best Seller list for 72 weeks.
