Janet Fitch was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is an American writer. She is most famously known as the author of the Oprah's Book Club novel White Oleander, which became a film in 2002. She studied at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and Keele University. She has worked as a proofreader, typesetter, graphic artist, newspaper editor, magazine editor, freelance journalist and teacher of creative writing. She has written other books include: Paint It Black(novel), Kicks, The Revolution of Marina M. and The Art and Craft of Jewellery.
