Elsie de Wolfe was born in New York City, New York, USA. She was an American Interior designer. She is a 20th-century legend and is the mother of modern interior decoration. According to The New Yorker, "Interior design as a profession was invented by Elsie de Wolfe," although the praise is not strictly true. She was author of 1913 book, The House in Good Taste. Her autobiography, After All, was published in 1935.
