Cynthia Ann McKinney was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She is an American politician, activist and professor. As a member of the Democratic Party, she served six terms in the United States House of Representatives. She was the first African-American woman to represent Georgia in the House. She earned a B.A. in international relations from the University of Southern California, an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She worked as a high school teacher and later as a university professor.
