Sir John Major was born in St Helier, London, England. He is a British politician. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1990 to 1997. He served as Foreign Secretary and then Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Thatcher Government from 1989 to 1990. He was a member of Parliament for Huntingdon from 1979-2001. He studied at Rutlish School, a grammar school in the London Borough of Merton. He married Norma Johnson in 1970. They have two children.
