George Lester Jackson was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was an American left-wing activist, Marxist, author, a member of the Black Panther Party, and co-founder of the Black Guerrilla Family while incarcerated. He achieved fame as one of the Soledad Brothers and was later shot to death by guards in San Quentin Prison following an unsuccessful escape attempt which left Jackson and four others, including a judge, dead. He wrote several books include: Soledad Brother and Blood In My Eye.
