David Prowse was born in Bristol, England. He is an English bodybuilder, weightlifter and actor. He played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, though the character's voice was provided by James Earl Jones. He appeared as the Black Knight in the Terry Gilliam film Jabberwocky. In May 2010, he played Frank Bryan in The Kindness of Strangers, an independent British film produced by Queen Bee Films. Prowse won the British heavyweight weightlifting championship in 1962 and the following two years. He represented England in the weightlifting event at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Western Australia.
