Jean Marie Auel was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She is an American novelist. She is best known for her Earth's Children books, a series of novels. As of 2010, her books have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide. She earned an MBA degree from the University of Portland in 1976. She has written several novels include: The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, The Mammoth Hunters, The Plains of Passage, The Shelters of Stone, and The Land of Painted Caves. She married Ray Bernard Auel. They have five children.
