Emanuel "Manny" Azenberg was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York, USA. He is an American theatre producer. His first producing credit with The Lion in Winter in 1966. He also has taught theatre at Duke University for two decades. He produced more than 20 of Neil Simon’s plays on Broadway, starting with The Sunshine Boys and including the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Lost in Yonkers. He was elected to the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2009. Now, in recognition of a distinguished career that has spanned more than 50 years, 65 productions for Broadway, 25 Tony Award nominations and eight Tony Award wins, he is the recipient of this year’s Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
