Ella Wheeler Wilcox was born in Johnstown, Wisconsin, USA. She was an American poet and writer. Her most famous poem, "Solitude", was first published in the February 25, 1883 issue of The New York Sun. Her best-known work was Poems of Passion. Her autobiography, The Worlds and I, was published in 1918, a year before her death. She was also an associate editor of New Thought Magazine and had a number of her essays published in The Heart of New Thought.
