John Tillotson was born in Sowerby, West Yorkshire, England. He was the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury from 1691 to 1694. He studied at Clare College, Cambridge. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. He is the author of book, entitled A discourse against transubstantiation.
