John William Snow was born in Toledo, Ohio, USA. He is an American businessman, economist and Republican politician. He served as the 73rd US Secretary of the Treasury under U.S. President George W. Bush (2003-2006). He is the former CEO of CSX Corporation. He earned a BA degree from the University of Toledo in 1962. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Virginia in 1965. He served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland from 1965 to 1968. He earned a JD degree from the George Washington University Law School in 1967. He then worked at the Washington, DC law firm of Wheeler & Wheeler from 1967 to 1972. In 1972, he left Wheeler & Wheeler and took up a position as Assistant Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. He is currently the Chairman of Cerberus Capital Management.
