Jeffrey Archer was born in Finsbury, London, England. He is an English author, novelist, playwright, short story writer and politician. He educated at Wellington School and Brasenose College, Oxford. He was a Member of Parliament for Louth from 1969-1974. He served as a deputy chairman of the Conservative Party from 1985–1986. He had to resign his candidacy in 1999 after it emerged that he had lied in his 1987 libel case. He was imprisoned from 2001–2003 for perjury and perverting the course of justice, ending his political career. While in prison, he wrote the three-volume memoir, entitled A Prison Diary. He has written several novels include: Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, Shall We Tell the President?, Kane and Abel, The Prodigal Daughter, First Among Equals, A Matter of Honour, As the Crow Flies, Honour Among Thieves, The Fourth Estate, The Eleventh Commandment, Sons of Fortune, and False Impression. He has written several short stories include: A Quiver Full of Arrows, A Twist in the Tale, Twelve Red Herrings, and To Cut a Long Story Short. He has written several plays include: Beyond Reasonable Doubt, and The Accused. He married to Mary Doreen Weeden in 1966. They have two sons.
