He is an American Republican politician who served as the U.S. Representatives for Florida's 1st congressional district from 2001 to 2017. He was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2001. He earned a BA degree in Journalism from the University of Florida in 1984. He was a real estate broker and a deputy sheriff before taking public office.
