John Joseph Ambrose Curtin was born in Creswick, Victoria, Australia. He was an Australian Labor Party politician and journalist. He was the 14th Prime Minister of Australia, serving from 1941 to 1945. He was a Leader of the Labor Party from 1935 to 1945. He was a member of the Australian Parliament for Fremantle from 1928-1931, and 1934-1945. He joined the Australian Journalists' Association in 1917 and was elected Western Australian President in 1920. In addition to his stance on labour rights, he was also a strong advocate for the rights of women and children.
