George Edmund Street was born in Woodford, Essex, England. He was an English architect. Though mainly an ecclesiastical architect, he is perhaps best known as the designer of the Royal Courts of Justice, in the Strand in London. His selected edifices include: St James the Less, Pimlico, St John the Divine, Kennington, St Peter's Church, Bournemouth, St. Mary's Church, Southampton, St Mary's Church, Blymhill, St Mary the Virgin's Church, Wiggenhall, and St Andrew's Church, East Heslerton. He was elected an associate of the Royal Academy in 1866. He was also president of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
