Harold Budd was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is an American composer, poet and professor. He has developed a style of playing piano he terms "soft pedal". Budd's career as a composer began in 1962. In 1966, he graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in musical composition. He retired temporarily from composition in 1970 and began a teaching career at the California Institute of the Arts. His albums list shown below: The Pavilion of Dreams, Lovely Thunder, The White Arcades, By the Dawn's Early Light, Luxa, The Room, In the Mist, Bandits of Stature, Budd Box, Jane 1 - 11, and Jane 12-21.
