Harold Rowe "Hal" Holbrook, Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He is an American film and stage actor. He first received critical acclaim in 1954 for a one-man stage show he developed while in college, performing as Mark Twain. His role in several films include: The Group, All the President's Men, Julia, The Fog, Creepshow, The Firm, Men of Honor, Into the Wild( nominations-Screen Actors Guild Award and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), and Lincoln. He has won five Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award for his 1966 portrayal of Twain in Mark Twain Tonight. He graduated from the Culver Academies and Denison University.
