Herbert Victor Prochnow was an American banking executive, toastmaster and author. As Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago, he wrote several popular books on public speaking. He also wrote epigrams and anecdotes that appeared in The Saturday Evening Post and Reader's Digest. He wrote several books include: The Public Speaker's Treasure Chest, The Successful Speaker's Handbook, Dictionary of Wit Wisdom And Satire, 1000 Tips and Quips for Speakers and Toastmasters, Treasury of Inspiration, The Complete Toast-Master, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Podium.
