Harry Eugene Crews was born in Alma, Georgia, USA. He was an American novelist and professor. He graduated from the University of Florida. He wrote several novels include: Gospel Singer, Karate is a Thing of the Spirit, Car, The hawk is dying, A feast of snakes, All We Need of Hell, The knockout artist, Body, Scar Lover, The Mulching of America, and Celebration. He published a memoir in 1978 titled A Childhood: The Biography of a Place. He was for many years professor of creative writing at the university of Florida.
