Gilbert Hernandez was born in Oxnard, California, USA. He is an American cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic novelist. He is best known for his Palomar/Heartbreak Soup stories in Love and Rockets, an alternative comic book he shared with his brothers Jaime and Mario. He won Kirby Award for Best Black & White Series for Love & Rockets. He won Harvey Award for Best Writer for Love & Rockets. He has written several graphic novels include: Palomar, Marble Season, Julio's Day, Maria M., Bumperhead, Human Diastrophism, High Soft Lisp, Poison River, Love and Rockets X, Chance in Hell, and Blood of Palomar.
